UPCOMING EVENTS!
BOTR ‘INFORMATIONAL GATHERINGS’ SCHEDULED!
Three special “informational gatherings” have been scheduled in regard to our Building on the Rock Stewardship Appeal. It is hoped that every member of St. Peter will be able to attend at least one of these events.
At each of these gatherings you will hear a presentation, receive your personal packet of information, enjoy good food and fellowship, and be able to learn more about this stewardship appeal. Here is a brief description of each of the events planned.
3) Sunday, Feb. 26, 11:45 a.m. – Pancakes with Pastors, Principal & Teachers
Come over to the gym and check out the ability of your called workers to prepare a delicious breakfast,
enjoy fellowship time together, hear some entertainment, and learn more about BOTR.
LET THE CELEBRATION BEGIN!
The countdown has begun for our “Building on the Rock” Thank You Celebration services. These services will be held the first full weekend in March, March 3-4, 2012. Special plans are being made for these worship services. A musical group from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupaca, will lead us in worship. We will be privileged to have with us Pastor Douglas Engelbrecht from Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah, as our guest speaker.
He has served as president of our Northern Wisconsin District for many years. What an honor to have him with us! We look forward to having him share a message with us from God’s saving Word. St. Peter’s Pre-School will be singing special songs at the 8:00 a.m. service. St. Peter’s Lutheran Elementary School K-8 and St. Peter’s Sunday School will join together for a special hymn at the 10:30 a.m. service. During all of our services that weekend we are going to have opportunity to bring our “Promise Gift Cards” to the Lord. By now most all of our membership has received information about the promise gift cards, cards which indicate what each of us plan to give over the next three years for our Building on the Rock program. If you have any questions about them, please be sure to ask any of the Steering Committee team members and they will be able to help you. If you happen to forget yours, there will be extra cards available for you to use in the back of church. Even if you have to hand in a blank card at the service, we still would like to have you come forward as an indication of your support for this program. During the following week or at services the following weekend, you could then bring your filled out promise gift card.
WHAT’S GOING ON IN OUR COUNTRY?
What is going on in our country? Same sex marriages are being accepted by more and more states. Recall elections are taking place even in our own state. Our own government wants us to pay for abortions, contraceptives, abortive drugs, and medical procedures that are contrary to our doctrinal principles based on the Bible. Indeed, there is much confusion today on the whole issue of the separation of church and state. Do the Holy Scriptures address these matters? During the month of March we will behaving a Bible Study entitled: “Christian Citizenship In Church and State”. Come and learn what Scripture teaches about these controversial issues! This 4-week study will cover the following 1) The Christian’s Responsibility to Civil Government; 2) What to Do If the Government Demands Disobedience to God; 3) The Business of the Church is Not the Civil Government’s Business; and 4) The Business of Civil Government is Not the Church’s Business. Each class will be held in the Council Room starting at 9:15 a.m. The first class – Sunday, March 4, at 9:15 a.m. Hope to see you there!
Worship Workshop
The Heart and Hands of David Workshop is designed to connect, encourage, and grow artists and musicians who use modern technology, art, and instrumentation in Lutheran Worship. The two day clinic at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee will feature many sessions hosted by the members of Koine and other special guests. All are invited to enhance their gifts of service at the Heart and Hands of David Workshop.
A special session will be held on Thursday evening, April 19, for Worship Leaders and Coordinators. The Workshop will be followed on Sunday afternoon, April 22, by a special event featuring Koine. More details coming soon. If you in any way have any musical talent with any instrument that could be used in worship please talk to one of your pastors today!!!
